Hi, I’m TJ. I build the site, and then I’m the one who looks after it.
No account manager, no ticket queue, no handover to someone you’ve never met. You email me, and I’m the person who reads it and fixes it.
Why one person, not an agency
I started TJ Builds because I kept hearing the same two stories from small businesses. The first: they paid an agency a lot of money, got something decent, and then had no idea who to call when it broke. The second: they got a cheap site from a template builder, and eighteen months later it was slow, out of date, and nobody had touched it since launch.
Both problems have the same cause. Building a website and running a website are two different jobs, and most people only sell you the first one. So I sell both, priced separately and plainly: a fee to build it, and a fee to keep it alive.
Working solo means I can’t take on twenty clients at once, and I don’t try to. It also means nothing gets lost between departments, because there aren’t any. The person who designs your homepage is the person who picks up the phone eight months later when your opening hours change.
I’ve spent four years studying computer science and graphic design, and I’ve been building things professionally for three-plus years. That combination is why I care as much about how a site looks as how it runs underneath.
What “looked after, always” actually means
I notice before you do
Every site I run is monitored. If it goes down at 2am on a Sunday, I get the alert — not a customer of yours who gave up and went elsewhere.
I answer my own email
Send a change request and it lands with me. I aim to reply within 48 hours, and small edits are usually done the same day I read them.
I keep it current
Security patches, dependency updates, certificate renewals, backups. All the unglamorous maintenance that decides whether a site is still working in three years.
